Buck Creek

My hometown of Helena has a wonderful little creek that runs through called Buck Creek. It is a branch of the Cahaba River. Often I find myself along it's banks, in reflection of it's beauty.

Grandpa's Roses

When we first moved into our home, eleven years ago, one of the first things Grandpa made certain to do was to plant me some gorgeous climbing roses. The roses today are so hearty, with blooms bigger than my hands, their petals look and feel like velvet.
Every year, when they bloom, I think of grandpa's aged hands digging into the earth and giving them the proper lovethey required to grown. He had green thumbs, he could and would grow anything. But these roses are a love letter he left to those inside this house. He wanted us to have something beautiful to look at and equally as beautiful to smell.  Today grandpa is 94 years old. He sits in a nursing home, asking daily for the Lord to take him home. Longing to bloom on the other side in the gates of Heaven. For my sweet Grandpa B.....

"They Paved paradise and put up a parking lot"

This overlooked beautiful green oasis of aged trees along a slow moving creek is smackdab in the middle of concrete parking lot and highly traveled roads. I bet no one even notices this little slice of paradise, except for the groundhogs, birds, fish and swans I saw enjoying the good life as the world hurried by.

Ground Hog

The weather has been so wonderful, everyone is taking advantage of the temperatures. Winter is gone, Spring is here and everyone is happy.

Even this groundhog who is sunning himself along a creekbank beside Brookwood Mall. On a day like today.....who can stand to go shopping?

Fields of Spring

I love the color of spring green. The field at Bearden Farm is just that...and there is a beautiful blanket of yellow flowers covering it as well. Not good for pollen sufferers, but notheless beautiful.
Yesterday in this very spot, at 1:45 in the middle of the day I saw a coyote standing motionless, stalking something. And I didn't have my camera. Shoot. A rare site in the daylight! Coyotes are nocturnal.

Happy Easter.
It wasn't the nails that held Jesus to the cross, it was his Love for you and me.

Child's Play

My nephew Sam, who I call Smiley because the kid is always smiling. Here his grandma was throwing him the frisbee and each time it took flight, he took delight in watching it glide over to him. This was the face, many many times over. He never tired of it. I love childlike excitement!

Cheesy

I am a self proclaimed cheese connoisseur.
I love the stuff.
I like to make visits to the Sweet Home Cheese Farm, where I can greet the free range cows that are making my delicious cheeses. It's a home mom and pop family business that has been in existance for years, churning out cheese and butter to the public in Elberta Alabama. And be ready to wait in line. The word is finally out on the streets, this cheese is delicious.

Jellyfish Clouds

I awoke one morning while at the beach and went out onto the balcony to greet the day and was amazed at the cloud formations. Dont they look like jellyfish over the water? I haven't ever seen anything like these formations. Just when you think you've seen it all.......
